Biography

Representative Sharon Beasley-Teague is a Democrat representing House District 65. She was first elected as a member of the General Assembly in 1992 and continues to serve today. Presently, she serves on the Games, Fish & Parks, Reapportionment, and Ways & Means Committees.

She has proven to her constituents and the general public alike that she is a committed and able legislator. For more than 35 years her political involvement has been focused toward improving the standard of living for the working poor, thus helping to enhance the quality of life for those unable to speak up for themselves.

Representative Beasley-Teague has participated with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the National Jewish Fund, Operation Bread Basket, Head Start, Inc., and the United Youth Adult Conference.

For the 19 years, Rep. Beasley-Teague had worked as Founder and President of the Richard James Teague Memorial Foundation,which helps provide funds for various programs at the Pediatric Sickle Cell Clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital.

She creatively explores and solicits funding resources to provide college scholarships for high school seniors.
Representative Beasley-Teague is single and has one daughter. She is also a active member of the Temple of Prayer family worship Cathedral.

She has been trained and ordaind an Evangelist. She has been the recipient of numerous awards for civic and community service.
