Priorities

As many of you may already know, community service is a passion for me! Serving as NC House Representative for District 80, will allow another platform from which I can help others. I feel passionate that people deserve a better quality of life. As a Councilwoman for the City of Thomasville and in my 21 year career working with the Department of Public Safety, I have come in contact with many people with big hearts and caring spirits. I have come across hard working people who are living paycheck to paycheck trying to make ends meet. I also understand that most of these hard working folks just want to be able to take care of their families and need a little relief. Over the past 10 years, our state legislature has not put policies in place to help the majority of these North Carolinians. It is time for that to change.

North Carolina needs to stop focusing on petty policies that do not matter in the life of the everyday citizen. Our state legislature needs strong leadership to create policies that benefit the majority of the hard working taxpayers. North Carolina is my home! The folks in District 80 are my friends, family and community. It will be my honor to be their advocate in the NC State Legislature.

Although every issue is important, the following are areas where I believe, with my experience, I can help to improve the lives of every North Carolinian.

*  Affordable healthcare that includes patient protection from abusive and unfair billing practices
*  The ability to help fund our community colleges so they can develop programs to help folks in our area gain job and trade skills that will attract new business to our communities.
*  Properly fund our schools so we can retain and keep quality educators in our school system.
*  We need to develop a network of solutions that will help families and their loved ones that are struggling with opioid addiction.
